Dave Hark: A Street Photographer’s Perspective

Tell us a bit about yourself (background, who you are, your personality and how it lends to your work)?

Many thanks for the opportunity to showcase some of my work. Growing up in Cape Town, I am well familiar with the social economic landscape. I’ve been fortunate enough to be exposed to both sides of the coin.

My work has been mostly centred around street and documentary photography. I am fascinated with the way people interact with each other in everyday life. There is always a small story on the street if you slow down and watch closer. I enjoy documenting these small stories, some big issues and some not so big.

How do you stay motivated?

It has been hard to stay motivated lately. I personally need to keep working on a project, or a story to get me snapping with a purpose.

I don’t follow many photographers, but from a local point it has to be Pierre Crocquet.
